Dos and Don’ts – The Proper Use of Our Vytals

When used properly, our Vytals can be reused up to 200 times. Below are some tips on what our Vytals can handle and what they shouldn't be subjected to.

Dos – What Our Vytals Can Handle:

• Dishwasher-Safe:
  (They love a wash cycle in household or industrial dishwashers)
• Microwave-Safe:
  (Just don’t heat the lid along with the container)
• A Sustainable Alternative to Disposable Containers:
  (But only if they are returned to circulation as quickly as possible)

Don’ts – Please Avoid These with Our Vytals:

• Cutting Directly in the Bowl with Knives or Sharp Objects:
  (This can cause scratches, leading to faster recycling)
• Heating Vytals in the Oven:
  (High, constant heat may deform or even melt them)
• Cleaning Vytals with Aggressive Chemical Agents:
  (These may damage the plastic — regular dish soap is perfectly sufficient)
• Returning Vytals Very Dirty or Even Moldy:
  (These may no longer be hygienically cleanable and will need to be disposed of/recycled)

Even for special cases, we have a solution:

• The QR Code Is Damaged or Missing:
  Please return the Vytal to one of our partners, then email us at hallo@vytal.org with the location and the Vytal’s name. We’ll manually remove it from the system.
• The Lid or Base Is Lost:
  In this case, we only charge half the purchase price. Return the remaining part and email us with a photo and the bowl's name at hallo@vytal.org.
• The Vytal Is Damaged:
  Please check the container when you receive it. Once accepted, it becomes your responsibility. If it breaks, we must charge you €10 for a bowl and €4 for a cup, which will be automatically deducted from your stored payment method after the borrowing period ends.
• The Partner Restaurant Refuses to Accept My Vytals:
  You can see in the app which Vytals the partner accepts. If they still refuse, report it via hallo@vytal.org or through the app (search for the restaurant and click the three dots in the top right corner). We’ll follow up and resolve the issue.

These are rare exceptions. If they do occur, now you know how to handle them. 😉 Generally, there’s not much you can do wrong when handling our Vytals. Just treat them as your own beloved reusable containers while they’re in your possession.
