Return Options for Vytals

Congratulations! You have ordered your meal in reusable containers via delivery service or picked it up on-site, contributing to the reduction of single-use plastic. What’s next?

There are several ways to return our Vytals. We are happy to assist you with the return process and any difficulties you may encounter.

Borrowing Vytals is free for two weeks, after which they will be charged to you. However, in general, the faster they are returned to the system, the more sustainable it is, as our partners can wash, refill, and reuse them.

Return On-Site

If you open the “Currently Borrowed” section in the app and then tap “Show More”, you will see the containers currently in your possession. The arrow next to each container will take you to an additional menu where you can select “Find the nearest return location” to locate nearby partners who accept that container type.

Additionally, under the second tab in the app’s bottom menu, you can view all partners in your area. By selecting a partner, you can see which containers they accept, their opening hours, and other relevant details.

At many partner locations, you can simply drop off the containers, and they will scan them immediately or when they have time. Some partners also provide a return QR code on-site (e.g., at Backwerk). You must scan both this return QR code and the QR code on the container via the “Return” section in the app. After scanning, you can leave the container at the location. However, please ensure that the partner accepts your specific container type, as scanning will not work otherwise.

Return via Public Drop-Off Boxes

In large cities, you can drop off your Vytals in public return boxes without needing to speak with anyone. Simply place your clean containers in the box, and staff will scan them at the end of the day or the next day.

Please allow at least 24 hours before reporting a container as “returned but still listed” in the app. Some public return boxes are also available in canteens.

The opening hours depend on the hours of the respective partner locations.

Return via Delivery Service

Returns are also possible via Lieferando, but only in select cities and with specific partners.

Additionally, returns are available for orders made through the Gorillas grocery delivery service in:

  • Cologne
  • Düsseldorf
  • Hamburg
  • Berlin
  • Munich

Extending the Return Deadline

If you need more time to return your container, you can extend the borrowing period in the app.

  1. Go to “Currently Borrowed”
  2. Tap “Show More”
  3. Click the arrow next to the container
  4. Select “Extend”

Each extension costs €1 per week.
